FAMILY SHOW IS MISSED
Lately, there has been much in the news about the proliferation of
smut on the television at times that were once set aside for family
entertainment. Also, I have noticed that the rates for cable TV keep
going up. While these two situations may seem to have nothing in
common, there is something very important to consider.
Even with the advances in technology bringing us more channels than
ever before, it is impossible if you live in Lexington, to view the
fine program "Diff'rent Strokes." This is appalling. It seems that I
can turn on my TV just about any time and see some mindless nonsense
like "Full House" or "Saved by the Bell," but nowhere is the comedic
genius of Gary Coleman.
When this program began back in 1978, it dared to show people of
different cultures living harmoniously in a realistic situation. It
also treated us to the shenanigans of Arnold, Willie, Kimberly, Mr.
Drummond, and Mrs. Garrett. (Mrs. Garrett later got her own show,
"Facts of Life.") And who can forget the whimsical exploits of
Abraham, the black goldfish.
Today, this true American classic is nowhere to be found. This is the
result of some sick minds. I should hope that one of Lexington's TV
channels would have the integrity to do what's right and begin showing
episodes of this program immediately. I'm sure there are others who
share my view. I want my "Diff'rent Strokes."

editor's note: "Ole Sherm", as we call him to his face, or "The Biswick", as we call him behind it, doesn't have email, and thinks computers are taking away jobs from nice American undereducated laborers. He can be reached via ham radio, but we're not quite sure how that works.
