REASONS TO LIVE

I was very sad when I read about the suicide of that fellow from "Family Feud." I've watched that program for many years, and I think he was as good as the other guy.

I was also sad a couple of years ago when that fellow from Nirvana died. I never heard his music, but I saw him on the TV a few times and he seemed like a nice young man.

What these two deaths have in common is the fact that both these young men chose to end their own lives. This is sad. In a day and age of outlet malls and all-night bowling, you would think that these young people could find more reason to live.

I want all of the young people to know that suicide is not an answer. It seems that there is no patience in the young generation. If these kids could just think their problems through, they'd see that life goes on. It seems like today's kids can't sit through an episode of "Mr. Belvedere" without changing the channel 20 times. Maybe if society didn't promote instant gratification so much, some of the younger people who commit suicide would look beyond the end of their noses and see that there's another way.

editor's note: "Ole Sherm", as we call him to his face, or "The Biswick", as we call him behind it, doesn't have email, and thinks computers are taking away jobs from nice American undereducated laborers. He can be reached via ham radio, but we're not quite sure how that works.
